Lyles’ Place has been open in Victoria since the 1970s. It started its life in the basement where Cenote is now. It moved to the main floor in the 1980s with branches also in James Bay and Langford. They sold records, tapes, CDs, music memorabilia and even comic books over the years.
770 Yates Street during the same time had a storied history. In the 1980s it was an Italian restaurant, in the 1990s and early 2000s, it was a nightclub called Scandals. Some years ago, Lyles’ moved up the street and settled in the unique location.
Cleaned out Lyle’s place today, it’s been open for longer then any of our company’s employees have been alive.. Not many original shops left down town anymore.
We appreciate the work though and are proud to be part of something that so many will remember!!
Lyles place, you will be missed!!!
